Lord Maha Vishnu came down to earth as Varaha and Narasimha to annihilate evil Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakasipu respectively
Prahlada - son of Hiranyakasipu prayed Lord to show the form of Varaha Narasimha and hence this temple
The main deity - Shri Varaha Narasimha is always covered with Sandal paste to lessen the ferocity .
Once in a year this paste is taken and new one is applied. Anyone planning to go this summer (May) kindly get the sandal too
